JD X KUSAMA IN THE NAME OF LOVE from Helen Han-Yi Hsu on Vimeo.
DD Shanghai had the pleasure to team up with JD.com, one of the largest e-commerce company in China, to help craft a promo video for a series of 3 canvas bags that JD & Kusama collaborated. We follow the red dot that symbolized JD on a journey through a carefully designed Kusama inspired art journey. One of the the biggest challenge during the process is that we are not allowed to use any of her artwork or pattern, therefore we had to come up with various creative solution to pay tribute to her without actually using her creation. We hope you enjoy this journey with us!

Nike x Matthew Williams “Captured Motion” from Thibaut Grevet on Vimeo.
Nike has joined forces with New York-based designer Matthew M Williams for a new collaboration that uses data to enhance performance. In this collaboration with NOWNESS, directed by Thibaut Grevet, the power and versatility of the collection is embodied by the intense training movement of two dancers, choreographed by contemporary talent Leo Walk. The performances, shot in a quarry in Ukraine, follows the footsteps of the isolated dancers sporting the new, cutting-edge apparel, where digital renders and human movement demonstrate seamless shifts between the robotic and the rhythmic.

János vitéz (Jankovics Marcell, 1973) from Filmalap - Filmarchívum on Vimeo.
The very first full length animation to be completed in Hungary, the film was commissioned by the government for the 150th anniversary of national poet Sándor Petőfi’s birthday, and based on his epic poem of the same title. It was premiered on May 1, 1973. The production took 22 months, that is, almost 2 years. The story follows the great adventures of titular János, a shepherd, who leaves his village to become a hussar and in quest for his beloved Iluska. Visually it bears strong stylistic affinities with the Art Nouveau, pop art, and the decorative Hungarian folk art. Both the hallucinogenically colorful visual design and the psychedelic road movie-like narrative of the film is highly reminiscent of the cult film of the hippie era, Yellow Submarine from 1968.
